Photography Workshops

The Complete Digital Workflow

Starting this January we will once again be offering a series of classes covering the basic digital workflow process. The four classes will cover all aspects from basic photography to the final print. Whether or not you plan to print your own images or have them printed at  at Wal-Mart, learning how to color manage your workflow will save time, money, and headaches. The classes, which are listed below can be taken individually or as a set. For more information you can call the store and ask for Jim or email jwhitephoto@gmail.com. Classes will be at the store and will be starting Wednesday,  January 11th. Classes will be  every Wednesday through February 1st. Class run from 7:00-9:00PM. Each class is $65.00 or all four for $225.00 if you sign up in advance.

1) Photography 101: Learn about the basics of photography. What is an f/ stop? What is aperture, ISO, and shutter speed and what does it have to do with exposure?  What are the different camera shooting modes and when do I use what? This is a good starting point for those with no experience or those with experience who want to get beyond Program mode and learn to take control of the camera.

2) Image Editing Basics: You got a good shot but the color is wrong and it is underexposed. What now? This class will show you how to use Photoshop or Photoshop Elements to quickly prepare an image for printing. This is not an advanced Photoshop class but some computer experience is helpful.

3) Color Management: “It looks great on my monitor but the print is way off. What’s up?  This class is for those who are interested in getting the color right and keeping it right throughout the process. How to set a custom white balance to maintain good color in-camera. We will learn about generating and using ICC profiles in the editing and print process as well as how to color calibrate your monitor. What is the best color space to use? The end result being what you see on your computer monitor is what you get.

4) Putting It Together: This class is designed to walk through the complete process. Each participant will bring a selected image to class (CD, thumb drive, etc;), and we will walk through the complete process from . You will keep the final generated fine-art print.
